TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day One – Tuesday, April 23, 2024: Depart for Michigan with stops enroute to stretch your legs and lunch on your own. On arrival in West Michigan, we will check into our home for the next two nights, the Holiday Inn Express in Holland, MI. After a short refresh, enjoy free time for dinner on your own in downtown Holland. The charming downtown is home to local breweries, cafes, local restaurants, and quant shops.

Day Two – Wednesday, April 24, 2024: Breakfast is included at the hotel before beginning your day of exploring Holland. Start with a visit to Windmill Island where the area’s Dutch heritage is celebrated and on full display. Today the historic windmill “De Zwaan” (the swan in English) is a working grain mill and the centerpiece of 36-acres of gardens, dikes, canals, and natural areas.  After lunch on your own, the day continues with a visit to Veldheer Tulip Farm and De Klomp Wooden Shoe Factory. Vern Veldheer started the farm in 1950 with a few hundred tulips and today is has grown to include over 5.5 million tulips and tens of thousands of daffodils, hyacinth, crocuses, and more. The De Klomp factory keeps the art of carving alive and features authentic delftware pottery in addition to other Dutch wares. Tonight, enjoy dinner on your own.

Day Three – Thursday, April 25, 2024: Following breakfast, check-out and depart for Frederick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, MI. This 158-acre complex is home to hundreds of sculptures, numerous themed gardens, and Michigan’s largest tropical conservatory. During a guided tram tour, you will see the collections highlights, including the 24-foot tall American Horse, inspired by Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci. After, we’ll depart for home with comfort stops and meals on your own along the way.
