TENTATIVE ITINERARY:
Day One – Thursday, December 5: Travel aboard a luxury motorcoach setting forth for Montreal, Quebec. Rest and meal stops will be made periodically. Later this afternoon we arrive in downtown Montreal for a delightful three-night stay at the Novotel Montreal. As Canada’s second largest city, Montreal is an industrial, commercial and financial center and one of the country’s major seaports. Gather for dinner included at a local restaurant.
Day Two – Friday, December 6 : This morning after breakfast we embark on a Christmas History Tour learning the origins and local traditions of holiday celebrations in Old Montreal. View the window displays at LaMaison Ogilvy’s and shop at Noel Eternal Christmas Store. Enjoy free time for lunch (at own expense) at Bonsecours Market, located in Canada’s finest heritage building in Old Montreal. Located between the St. Lawrence River and the city centre, Old Montreal and the Old Port District were the beginning of a great city which began back in 1642. Enjoy remarkable 18th-century architecture along with the many boutiques, sidewalk cafes and public places that are alive with activities all year long. Later today visit one of the most magnificent French-Canadian churches and one of the largest churches in Canada, the Basilica of Notre Dame. The ornate gothic-style church features beautiful stained-glass windows depicting religious scenes and the history of the original parish. Gather for dinner at Weinstein & Gavino’s Restaurant.
Day Three – Saturday, December 7: This morning after breakfast we visit the McCord Stewart Museum which highlights the history of Montreal and provides collections of archives, documentary, art, costume, fashion and textiles, Indigenous cultures and photography along with a special Christmas exhibit. Enjoy free time for lunch and shopping on own at the outdoor traditional European style Christmas market at Canal Lachine Park. This afternoon we visit the lovely Chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours and enjoy a holiday choir recital. Gather this evening at Chez Suzette for an authentic crepe dinner.
Day Four – Sunday, December 8: This morning following breakfast we visit Jean Talon Market, a European style Advent Market featuring vendors from around the world. Later today we depart Montreal and begin our journey home. Rest and meal stops will be made periodically.
