TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day One – Wednesday, October 16: Journey with us this fall to beautiful New Hampshire. On our way you will enjoy lunch on your own and then arrive at Mountain Club on Loon Resort** – your home for our four-night stay. After check-in we will head for our first train ride on the CAFÉ LAFAYETTE DINNER TRAIN. Onboard we will enjoy a five-course chef-choice included dinner.

“ Escape the ordinary and relive the romance of dining on the rails. Experience this while riding in one of three beautifully restored Pullman dining cars, enjoying five courses of fine food served to you in the Grand European manner.” – Café Lafayette (www.nhdinnertrain.com)

Day Two – Thursday, October 17:  We will start our day by touring the iconic KANCAMAGUS HIGHWAY with stops at Sugar Hill Overlook, Albany Covered Bridge and Rocky Gorge. Next is the CONWAY SCENIC RAILWAY TRAIN, where we’ll travel on what was once the Maine Central Railroad’s famed Mountain Division line, on tracks that were laid in the 1870s and enjoy a box lunch on the train. Once the train ride ends our group will meet the motorcoach and continue to tour through the WHITE MOUNTAINS with scenic overlooks for photo stops including a stop at the FRANCONIA NOTCH VISITOR CENTER.

Day Three – Friday, October 19: Breakfast is included daily at the hotel. Meet our LOCAL GUIDE for a day of touring through THE WHITE MOUNTAINS. Start with a ride on the CANNON MOUNTAIN TRAMWAY to the 4080-foot summit of Cannon Mountain. Experience the spectacular rugged mountain scenery as we stroll along a short loop trail taking in views of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Canada (on a clear day). On our first train ride of the day, we will experience more spectacular views on THE WORLDS FIRST MOUNTAIN CLIMBING COG RAILWAY. As we ride to the summit of Mount Washington – the Northeast’s Highest Peak, you’ll want to be prepared for any weather – dress warmly with winter coats and hats, as it may be cold at the summit. A box lunch is included on this day.

Day Four – Saturday, October 20: Today is a more leisurely day of touring on the FALL FOLIAGE SPECIAL TRAIN. This train travels north from Meredith, traveling by lakes Waukewan and Winona and along the Pemigewasset River to Plymouth. The destination is the Common Man Inn in Plymouth where we will be welcomed in for a HOT LUNCHEON. On the return trip members of the Ashland Historical Society will greet us at the restored ASHLAND RAILROAD STATION.

Day Five – Sunday, October 21: After breakfast, we will check-out and depart for a two-hour trip on the WINNIPESAUKEE SCENIC RAILROAD along Lake Winnipesaukee with an included turkey luncheon carved at the table with all the trimmings.

** Loon Mountain Resort – Please Note: Guests in Doubles and Triples requesting two beds will have two murphy beds (one queen and one double).
