TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day One – FLIGHT TO SACRAMENTON: Today board your flight bound for Sacramento. Upon arrival meet your Tour Director and transfer to your hotel to begin a two night stay in California’s capital known as the “River City.” Tonight enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travelers at a popular local restaurant.

Day Two – SACRAMENTO TOURING: This morning visit the Aerospace Museum of California, which celebrates the history of aviation and aerospace with interactive science and technology exhibits and hundreds of artifacts on site. The museum sits on the grounds of the former McClellan Air Force Base and features over 40 historic aircraft in a 4-acre outdoor Air Park and a 40,000 square foot exhibit hall. Later head to Old Sacramento, the commercial hub of the Gold Rush Era filled with shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and 1800’s charm with original storefronts & wooden sidewalks. Visit
the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento and see 21 beautifully restored railroad cars and locomotives dating as far back as 1862 illustrating rail history in California and the West. Learn about the construction of the rail line high in the Sierras near Donner Pass, a route you will travel the following day. Later stop at one of the 50 local breweries in the Sacramento area for a Brewery Visit & Beer Tasting. The region is experiencing a craft beer renaissance as it was once the largest beer production spot west of the Mississippi. Return to your hotel for an evening at your own pace.

Day Three – SACRAMENTO - SIERRA NEVADA RAIL JOURNEY - RENO: This morning at Sacramento Valley Station board an Amtrak Train for a 4-hour Sierra Nevada Rail Journey. The famous rail experience takes you from the farmland of the Central Valley into
scenic foothills, then into and over the beautiful snow capped Sierra Nevada Mountains. Travel through Truckee, a quaint town near Lake Tahoe, and finally ride along the Truckee River and arrive in Reno, “The Biggest Little City in the World.” Early this evening check into your Reno hotel for a two-night stay. Join your fellow travelers for dinner at a casino resort.

Day Four – RENO - TAHOE - VIRGINIA CITY: This morning visit Reno’s famous National Automobile Museum, one of the top auto museums in the world featuring the original Harrah Auto Collection of
gaming pioneer Bill Harrah. Then travel through historic Carson City, capital of the Silver State of Nevada, and continue up the hill to see majestic Lake Tahoe. The famous lake is the largest Alpine lake in North America and a year round resort destination. Stop in South Lake Tahoe to explore Heavenly Village filled with shops, restaurants and an ice rink. Then visit Virginia City, site of the Comstock Lode and once the richest place in the world. The famous Old West town was once the
west’s mining metropolis and featured notable residents Mark Twain & Bret Harte. Tonight’s Farewell Dinner will be at a local restaurant in the Reno area.

Day Five – RENO - FLIGHT HOME: Today transfer to the Reno Airport & fly home with wonderful memories of your experiences in the Sierra Nevadas.
