TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day One – Wednesday, October 1: Begin your excursion by departing Western NY on your LUXURY MOTOR COACH for LINCOLN, NH, where you will check in at your hotel: Mountain Club on Loon. Enjoy an INCLUDED WELCOME BUFFET DINNER at the hotel upon arrival. Bags will be brought to the room while you dine.

Day Two – Thursday, October 2: Enjoy a FULL BREAKFAST BUFFET at the hotel at your leisure. After, MEET YOUR LOCAL GUIDE at the hotel who will take you on a TOUR OF THE KANCAMAGUS HIGHWAY. One the most scenic routes in America is located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The “Kanc” as the locals call it, is officially the section of Route 112 that is both an attraction and a destination. The names in this region of New England are mostly Native American -Kangamagus Mountain, Passaconaway (Child of the Bear), and Chocorua. Stops will be made at Sugar Hill Overlook, Albany Covered Bridge and Rocky Gorge. On the agenda this morning is the CONWAY SCENIC RAILWAY TRAIN where you’ll travel on what was once the Maine Central Railroad’s famed Mountain Division line, on tracks that were laid in the 1870s. Enjoy some of the most dramatic natural scenery in the East as you travel through spectacular Crawford Notch – past sheer bluffs, steep ravines, cascading brooks and streams, panoramic mountain vistas, across Frankenstein Trestle and Willey Brook Bridge enroute to Crawford Station. As you travel through this rugged terrain, you can begin to appreciate what a remarkable engineering achievement constructing this railroad was almost 140 years ago. Live commentary onboard includes history and folklore of the railroad and area, as well as points of interest. A BOX LUNCH is included on the train. When your train ride ends, you will meet your coach and driver at the other end of the line to be picked up and continue touring through the WHITE MOUNTAINS. Travel through notches carved out by glaciers, scenic overlooks for photo stops. Your guide knows all the best places and is well versed in the history, geology and lore of the area. These fascinating details will be imparted to you as enjoy you travel from place to place today. Our next stop will be for a ride on the CAFÉ LAFAYETTE DINNER TRAIN. Escape the ordinary and relive the romance of dining on the rails. Experience this while riding in one of three beautifully restored Pullman dining cars, enjoying five courses of fine food served to you in the Grand European manner. With salad greens, herbs and edible flowers fresh from our gardens: always fresh meats, poultry, seafood and homemade rolls through dessert, you are guaranteed the unusual and the delicious. As dinner is served, period music keeps time with the rail's rhythmic rumbling, punctuated by the haunting wail of the engine's whistle. With magnificent mountain vistas and lush New England forests surrounding The Café Lafayette Dinner Train, you are assured of having the best seat in the house, all evening long. After dinner, with the compartment lights down low and the dramatic sunset outside your window, you may allow yourself a wistful romantic journey back in time, and you might wish the evening would never end. Once back at the station, we will head back to the hotel for the evening.

Day Three – Friday, October 3: After the FULL BREAKFAST BUFFET at the hotel, we will meet our guide for more of the WHITE MOUNTAINS as we travel to the WORLDS FIRST MOUNTAIN CLIMBING COG RAILWAY. Enjoy a Scenic Train Ride to the Summit of Mount Washington, the Northeast's Highest Peak! Trains run Rain, Snow or Shine & may be Steam or Diesel powered. The round-trip cog ride takes approximately three hours, generally including one hour stop at the summit. We recommend that you bring a camera and extra jacket or sweater. Remember, some trains are fired by coal -- so dress accordingly. This trip is considered a “Summit Post-Season” train ride. This year, we've adjusted our late fall schedule to provide an exclusive glimpse of Mount Washington's dramatic, late fall landscape after the closure of the Visitors Facilities. Weather permitting, our diesel trains will layover at the summit for roughly 30 minutes, with plenty of time to take in the view from the platform area or inside the heated passenger coach. The train returns to the base station where a BOX LUNCH will be provided. After lunch, Visit FADDEN’S GENERAL STORE on your way back to the hotel. Authentic, old fashioned general store, family-owned since 1896! Check out the on-site maple sugar house, 5-time winner of “Best Maple Syrup in New Hampshire”. Groceries, souvenirs, and the area's largest selection of maple syrup and maple sugar products. Once back at the hotel, you will enjoy and INCLUDED BUFFET DINNER.

Day Four – Saturday, October 4: An INCLUDED FULL BUFFET BREAKFAST starts your day before we meet our local guide. Our destination is the FALL FOLIAGE SPECIAL TRAIN. This train travels north from Meredith, traveling by lakes Waukewan & Winona and along the Pemigewasset River, to Plymouth. Final stop of the train is The destination is the COMMON MAN INN in Plymouth where guests are welcomed in for a HOT BUFFET LUNCHEON. On the return train trip you will be greeted by members of the Ashland Historical Society as you tour the restored ASHLAND RAILROAD STATION. You will then depart for the hotel and have an INCLUDED BUFFET DINNER this evening.
