TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day One – Monday, August 2, 2027: Depart the Rochester area aboard your luxury motor coach for Massachusetts. Along the way, stops will be made for lunch on own. The first destination will be CHESTERWOOD-STOCKBRIDGE FOR AN INCLUDED TOUR! This is the summer home of Daniel Chester French, sculptor of the seated Lincoln of the Memorial in Washington DC and the Minuteman in Concord, MA. See several statues of Lincoln and hear how French developed an idea into one of our nation’s most well-known monuments. When speaking of his time at Chesterwood, Mr. French told his many friends that he spent six months of the year in heaven and the rest of the time in New York. You will see French's home, studio with all his equipment and gallery, also the shortest railroad in the world. After, travel to your hotel. Check in and freshen up before an INCLUDED DINNER this evening at the RED LION INN. Located in the Berkshires, this property is famous for its collection of antiques, classic front porch with rocking chairs, and appearance in Norman Rockwell’s painting Stockbridge Main Street at Christmas.

Red Lion Inn Entree Selections

  • Roasted Haddock
  • Pot Roast
  • Chicken Fransese
  • Maple Porkloin

Red Lion Appetizer Selections:

  • Chowder
  • Salad

Day Two – Tuesday, August 3, 2027: On day two, enjoy an INCLUDED BREAKFAST at your hotel before departing for VENTFORT HALL, one of the approximately seventy-five so-called “Cottages” built in Lenox in the late 19th century when the village became a popular Gilded Age resort. Located on spacious grounds in the heart of the village, you will be able to TOUR THE ESTATE as well as enjoy VICTORIAN TEA SERVICE. Later, explore and enjoy lunch on own in WILLIAMSTOWN.

Next, visit the STERLING AND FRANCINE CLARK ART INSTITUTE. Nestled in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts it is well known for its extraordinary collection of Impressionists and Renaissance paintings as well as the works of popular American Artists such as Frederic Remington and Winslow Homer. The museum houses a collection of more than 30 Renoirs. Also see a sculpture collection, exceptional examples of English silver, porcelain, early photographs, many prints and drawings, along with various decorative arts. The museum is famous for its art presentation and its idyllic setting on 130 acres of lawns, meadows and walking trails, and a museum shop.

In the evening, travel to TANGLEWOOD. Upon arrival you may find dinner on own prior to the INCLUDED ADMISSION TO TANGLEWOOD ON PARADE. This extraordinary show performed by The Boston Symphony Orchestra includes selections from Beethoven, Ravel and Williams’ recent film scores. The program culminates with the ‘1812’ Overture where civil war canons are set off in time with the music. A spectacular fireworks display ends a fine evening. With inside Shed tickets at the Tanglewood Music Shed which is an indoor amphitheater, you will enjoy all the music and entertainment. The Shed was built in 1938 and, like a farm shed, designed with three open sides. The difference is that the acoustical perfection of the Tanglewood Music Shed makes it an ideal place for 5125 people to hear the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, or any classical artist! This is an experience unique only the Berkshires.

Day Three – Wednesday, August 4, 2027: On your final day of this trip, after an INCLUDED BREAKFAST, we return for a TANGLEWOOD TOUR. Step back in time as you stroll the perfectly manicured grounds at the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. This tour explains the history of the BSO in the Berkshires and highlights the accomplishments of the Tanglewood Music Center educational program. The name Tanglewood was given by Nathaniel Hawthorne and you will see his inspiration. See the world famous Tanglewood Music Shed, an indoor amphitheater, built to resemble a cow barn! It is known, however, worldwide, for its acoustical perfection and as one of the premier sites to enjoy classical music. If time allows, also see Highwood which has the honor of being the first cottage to be built in the Berkshires and see Ozawa Hall, the newest concert hall on the campus.

After, lunch will be on your own in LENOX, a quintessential New England town with an eclectic collection of artistic and upscale shops to browse or shop in. There are a variety of restaurants with an array of menu choices and price ranges to choose from. After time spent here, board and depart for home with memories of great art and music to last a lifetime!
