TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day 1: Sun. June 6, 2027 A morning departure has you traveling to BECKLEY, WV for overnight lodging with meal and rest stops on your own along the way.  Upon arrival, you will check into TRU BY HILTON (or similar); dinner is on your own in the area.

Day 2: Monday June 7, 2027 Enjoy a leisurely BREAKFAST AT YOUR HOTEL, then check out and travel to CHARLESTON, SC with a lunch/rest stop on your own along the way. Arrive to check into the HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS MT. PLEASANT with time to freshen up before departing for DINNER at THE OYSTER HOUSE.

Day 3: Tuesday June 8, 2027 Following a leisurely BREAKFAST AT YOUR HOTEL, depart for the CHARLESTON VISITOR’S CENTER to meet your GUIDE for a 2-HOUR TOUR OF CHARLESTON, one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL AND HISTORIC CITIES IN THE SOUTH WITH STATELY HOMES WITH LOVELY GARDENS, MAGNIFICENT PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND MAJESTIC CHURCHES. DURING YOUR TOUR YOU WILL SEE CHARLESTON CITY MARKET, WHITE POINT GARDEN, RAINBOW ROW, OLD EXCHANGE BUILDING, FOUR CORNERS OF LAW, SITE OF GADSDEN WHARF, U.S. CUSTOM HOUSE, ASHLEY HALL, THE BATTERY, COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON AND SEVERAL HISTORIC CHURCHES. After the tour, arrive in the OLD HISTORIC DISTRICT to enjoy lunch on your own. This afternoon you will arrive at LIBERTY SQUARE to set sail on a relaxing CHARLESTON HARBOR CRUISE which will take you to HISTORIC FORT SUMTER, also known as The Battery. Upon arrival you will be GREETED BY NATIONAL PARK SERVICE RANGERS, WHO WILL PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS ABOUT FORT SUMTER AND ITS PIVOTAL ROLE IN THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR. Fort Sumter was where the shots were fired that began the American Civil War. On the fort you will find a very informative museum with many historic artifacts and a museum store. After your visit, you will set sail to return to Liberty Square. DINNER has been arranged for you at the CHARLESTON CRAB HOUSE this evening.

Day 4: Wednesday, June 9, 2027  After a leisurely BREAKFAST AT THE HOTEL, check out and depart for the MAGNOLIA PLANTATION & GARDENS, where you will have a TOUR OF THE HOME and a NATURE TRAM TOUR OF THE GARDENS. THE PLANTATION DATES BACK TO 1676 AND IS ONE OF THE OLDEST PLANTATIONS IN THE SOUTH. It was originally a rice plantation that became known for its gardens in the mid 1800s. It has been the home of the Drayton Family since the early days of the Carolina Colony. The Draytons played an important role in the making of America. After your tour, you will TRAVEL TO SAVANNAH. Arrive at SAVANNAH’S VISITOR’S CENTER for a rest stop. Continue to SAVANNAH’S CITY MARKET to enjoy lunch on your own. Since the early 1700s, City Market has been the commercial and social center of Historic Savannah, where farmers and traders of all kinds originally came to sell their goods. Day 5: Thursday, June 9, 2027 Enjoy a leisurely BREAKFAST AT YOUR HOTEL, then depart for Savannah’s Visitor’s Center to MEET YOUR GUIDE FOR A TOUR OF HISTORIC SAVANNAH, once the state capital of Georgia. YOUR TOUR ENCOMPASSES 270 YEARS OF RICH HISTORY WITH ITS RESTORED 18TH AND 19TH CENTURY BUILDINGS AND THE WATERFRONT WHERE COTTON WAREHOUSES ARE NOW RESTAURANTS, HOTELS, AND SHOPS. THIS BEAUTIFUL CITY ELOQUENTLY DISPLAYS EXQUISITE IRONWORK, ANCIENT COBBLESTONES, SPLENDID MANSIONS AND PICTURESQUE COTTAGES. Day 6: Friday, June 10, 2027 Following a leisurely breakfast, check out and depart for your overnight lodging in WV- dinner is on your own this evening.
