Hawaii 3 Island Adventure - February 20 - 28, 2024

STATEMENT about West Maui, Hawaii & our Three Island Hawaii Adventure

We are deeply saddened about the wildfires that have caused so much loss of life and destruction to the special town of Lahaina in Maui. We cherish our relationship with the people and islands of Hawaii. It is a magical destination and one that is highly sought out by our guests for its natural beauty, culture, and unparalleled experiences. We are closely monitoring the situation in Maui, which impacts the west side of the island.

Regarding your travel plans to Maui, please keep in mind that the state of Hawaii needs travelers as part of their recovery efforts.  “In order to recover, we need to strike the proper balance of rebuilding and recovering by continuing to welcome visitors to our shores,” said Mufi Hannemann, president and CEO of the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association. “With the exception of Lahaina and West Maui area, the remaining resort destinations of Maui remain open, including Wailea, Kihei, Makena and Kahului.”  According to Tapani Vuori, the general manager of the Maui Ocean Center, "An employed Maui is a resilient Maui.  Many of our local businesses depend on the visitor community, and as that dwindles, the hardships on our island multiply.”   The other islands in the state of Hawaii were not impacted by the fires and remain fully open for tourism.

As we continue to monitor the situation, we are actively reviewing the itineraries of our upcoming 2023 & 2024 departures.  All 2024 departures are scheduled to operate as planned less the Lahaina visit. If any other adjustments need to be made to our 2024 published itineraries, we will advise guests closer to departure.

TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

DAY 1: ARRIVE HONOLULU: Arrive in Honolulu and meet your Tour Director for a warm Aloha Welcome. Transfer to your hotel and check in for your 3-night stay on Oahu, the most populated of the Hawaiian Islands. At first glance, Honolulu, the state's capital, appears to be like any other large American city, but the palm trees, scarlet hibiscus, and the variegated colors of the citizenry's clothing make it clear that you are not anywhere but Hawaii. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a Welcome Dinner.

DAY 2: HONOLULU TOURING: Today enjoy a Pearl Harbor & Honolulu City Tour. Head first to Pearl Harbor to take a Navy launch out to the USS Arizona Memorial to pay tribute to the fallen heroes who lost their lives on December 7, 1941. You'll have time to explore the visitor center and view a film and the exhibits before we head off to see the sights of Honolulu. Set in a real dormant volcano, you visit Punchbowl Crater to take a drive through the National Cemetery of the Pacific. Later see the State Capitol, the Governor's Mansion, China Town and view King Kamehameha's statue before returning to your hotel.

DAY 3: HONOLULU AT LEISURE: Today enjoy a day at your leisure in paradises to soak up some sun on the beach or at the pool, do some shopping, play a round of golf, or join an Optional Oahu Circle Island Tour.

DAY 4: HONOLULU - FLY TO HILO (BIG ISLAND) - BIG ISLAND TOURING: This morning fly to Hilo on the Island of Hawaii (the Big Island). Ascend the rugged countryside to Volcanoes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where you'll see a real, smoking, and steaming volcano. Visit Volcanoes National Park Visitor Center to learn all about the geology and history of the volcano. Then depart to see the unique Punaluu Black Sand Volcanic Beach. Later journey to the Kona Coast area and check into your resort for a 2-night stay. After settling in, travel to the nearby historic fishing village of Kailua Kona, referred to by the locals as Kona or Kona Town. Enjoy dinner in Kona at a popular local restaurant including a choice of a couple of special local brews - a draft from the Kona Brewing Company or an authentic cup of Kona Coffee.

DAY 5: BIG ISLAND AT LEISURE: Today enjoy a full day at leisure in Kona to relax, get more sun, another round of golf, explore on your own, do some shopping, or perhaps join an Optional Tour.

DAY 6: KONA - FLY TO MAUI - LAHAINA: This morning fly to Maui, known as the "Valley Isle." Upon arrival visit and take time to explore the small town of Lahaina, the picturesque old whaling capital of the Pacific, which looks much today as it did at the turn of the last century. Then check into your Maui resort for a three-night stay. Enjoy this island paradise for some leisure time. **CHANGE PENDING**

DAY 7: MAUI AT LEISURE: Relax today in the sun of Maui poolside, maybe visit the spa or spend the day shopping.

DAY 8: MAUI TOURING: This morning visit majestic Mount Haleakala National Park or "House of the Sun." Travel to the top of Haleakala, Maui's massive dormant volcano on this scenic journey from sea level to 10,000 feet. At the summit is a vast crater seven and a half miles long by two and a half miles wide, and 3,000 feet deep. Marvel at the crater's eerie landscape of cinder cones and ancient lava formations. This evening, join your fellow travelers for a Farewell Dinner and say Aloha to the islands as you enjoy a Hawaiian Luau, a fun-filled cultural event featuring traditional food, dancing, and music.

DAY 9: MAUI - IAO NEEDLE - FLY HOME: Today, visit the stunning Iao Valley where spectacular waterfalls and lush tropical foliage surround the Iao Needle, rock formations rising over 2,000 feet from the valley floor. Later, fly home filled with wonderful memories of your Hawaii 3 Island Adventure.

NOTE: Flights home might arrive on Day 10 due to overnight flights out of Hawaii.
