TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day One – Saturday, October 11: Early morning departure from WNY.  Travel to your overnight stop. Comfort and pay on own meal stop will be made en route. Arrive in Abingdon for DINNER and lodging.


Day Two – Sunday, October 12: Following BREAKFAST, we journey to the charming Bavarian town of HELEN, GEORGIA. En route rest and meal stops will be made periodically. Later today, we visit BABYLAND GENERAL HOSPITAL, THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE LITTLE PEOPLE AND CABBAGE PATCH KIDS, featuring the largest selection of Cabbage Patch Kids available anywhere in the world. Continue into the lovely Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Georgia to the ALPINE VILLAGE OF HELEN for a memorable THREE-NIGHT STAY. Located along the Chattahoochee River, Helen is a re-creation of an alpine village complete with Bavarian-style buildings, cobblestone alleys, old-world towers, and gingerbread trim. For over 50 years, HELEN'S OKTOBERFEST celebrations have provided visitors with the opportunity to ENJOY TRADITIONAL BAVARIAN MUSIC, DANCING, AND FOOD IN THE CITY'S RIVERSIDE FESTHALLE. This will be our opening venue during our time in Helen.


Day Three – Monday, October 13: After BREAKFAST, we travel a scenic route to the quaint town of BLUE RIDGE, GEORGIA. Climb aboard the BLUE RIDGE SCENIC RAILWAY, A HERITAGE RAILROAD IN NORTHERN GEORGIA. Travel the former Marietta nad North Georgia Railroad line along the Toccoa River north to McCaysville, Georgia, and its Twin city of Copperhill, Tennessee. Enjoy free time for lunch, shopping, and sightseeing in these delightful mountain villages before returning to Blue Ridge. Later this afternoon, we return to Helen for DINNER AT A LOCAL RESTAURANT and then attend the FESTHALLE FOR ANOTHER EVENING OF OKTOBERFEST FUN AND FESTIVITIES.


Day Four – Tuesday, October 14: BREAKFAST is included at the hotel. Today, we embark on a scenic excursion to the charming town of DAHLONEGA, GEORGIA. LISTED ON THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES. Dahlonega offers expansive mountain vistas among delightful cafes and eateries and unique boutiques and art galleries. Enjoy a stop at DAHLONEGA GOLD MUSEUM which depicts the history of our nation's first major gold rush in 1829. Ample free time for lunch and shopping will be allotted to explore the quaint town square. Later this afternoon, we visit CRISSON GOLD MINE with an opportunity to pan for gold. Stop at a LOCAL WINERY FOR TASTING and shopping on our way back to Helen. Arrive back in Helen for dinner on own and evening at leisure. 


Day Five – Wednesday, October 15: Enjoy BREAKFAST at the hotel - included. Later this morning, we embark on a GUIDED TOUR OF THE HELEN AREA. Highlights include NORA MILL GRANARY and THE ANTIQUE MALL, BAVARIAN CLOCK SHOP, UNICOI LAKE AND STOVALL MILL BRIDGE. Following our tour, enjoy free time for lunch and shopping in the quaint downtown area. Notable German eateries and beer gardens offer delicious pastries, Reuben sandwiches, spaetzle, goulash and wursts. Numerous specialty and import shops offer unique hand-blown glass gifts, antiques, and collectibles, gourmet foods and fine jewelry. Later this afternoon, we depart northern Georgia and journey into Kentucky for the final overnight in London.


Day Six – Thursday, October 16: BREAKFAST included. Today, we begin our final journey home. Comfort and meal stops (at own expense) will be made periodically.
