TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day One - Tuesday, May 13, 2025: Depart from your hometown and travel to GETTYSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA, stopping for rest and lunch on your own.  Upon arrival, visit the GETTYSBURG MUSEUM AND VISITOR CENTERSEE THE FILM “A NEW BIRTH OF FREEDOM,” narrated by Morgan Freeman. View the sound-and-light show on the largest oil painting in North America—the BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG CYCLORAMA.  Longer than a football field and as tall as a four-story building, this stunning oil painting in-the-round of Pickett’s Charge was created in the late 1880s. INTERACTIVE EXHIBITS ARE LOCATED THROUGHOUT THIS 12-GALLERY, CIVIL WAR MUSEUM.  After your visit, depart for your lodging in the area.  DINNER TONIGHT IS AT A LOCAL RESTAURANT, followed by a restful night.

Day Two - Wednesday, May 14, 2025: After BREAKFAST at the hotel, depart for a day in Gettysburg.  A LICENSED BATTLEFIELD GUIDE will board your bus and take you on a NARRATED TOUR, OUTLINING THE HISTORY OF THE FAMOUS BATTLE as you wind your way through the battlefield.  THERE ARE 1,328 MONUMENTS, MEMORIALS, MARKERS, AND PLAQUES ON THE BATTLEFIELD THAT COMMEMORATE AND MEMORIALIZE THE MEN WHO FOUGHT AND DIED DURING THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG.  Lunch is on your own in the area, then board the shuttle which transports you to the EISENHOWER NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE – the 230-acre farm which was the only home ever owned by President Dwight D. Eisenhower and his wife, Mamie.  After returning to the park via shuttle, board your bus and depart for DINNER at one of the popular local restaurants.

Day Three - Thursday, May 15, 2025: Enjoy BREAKFAST at the hotel, then check out and depart for HERSHEY, PENNSYLVANIA … the “SWEETEST PLACE ON EARTH.”  Arrive at the CHOCOLATE WORLD VISITOR CENTER to ride the Hershey’s CHOCOLATE TOUR RIDE through a simulated chocolate factory, grab lunch on your own in the food court and pick up some delicious Hershey candy before meeting your TOUR GUIDE FOR A TROLLEY TOUR OF HERSHEY.  Hershey began with Milton S. Hershey who envisioned a complete new community around his chocolate factory.  He built a model town for his employees that included comfortable homes, an inexpensive public transportation system, a quality public school system and extensive recreational and cultural opportunities.  Many of the town’s impressive structures (Hotel Hershey, community center, sports arena and stadium) were built during the Great Depression as part of Milton Hershey’s “Great Building Campaign” to provide jobs.  This in turn transformed the town into a major tourist attraction.  After the tour, continue home with fond memories of Historic Gettysburg & Sweet Hershey.
