CASTLES OF NEW YORK & LAKE GEORGE

JULY 22-25, 2024   4 DAYS (MON-THUR) 

Day 1 Departures: TP: 8:00 am  EH: 8:30 am

An early departure has you heading for Alexandria Bay area featuring the beautiful Thousand Islands.  Our first stop takes us to the Village of Clayton for lunch on your own and explore this quaint Village. A leisurely stroll down our main streets brings you to an array of unique shops including clothing boutiques, jewelry shops, as well as shops offering 1000 Islands collectibles to take home as a keepsake. Be sure to look up while you stroll our main streets. The upper stories share attractive architectural features- window crowns, and cast-iron cornices – there’s intriguing history and charm of Clayton’s commercial buildings, homes, and churches. This afternoon, we will travel to the Edgewood Resort to check in.You will have time to freshen up before enjoying a delicious dinner, which is followed by a relaxing evening.

Day 2    After a buffet breakfast, you will depart for the dock in downtown Alexandria Bay to begin Uncle Sam's boat tour of two castles, located on the St. Lawrence River.  Your first stop will be at Dark Island for a tour of Singer Castle which was built in 1905 by the Bourne Family.  Afterwards, enjoy the beautiful scenery as you cruise along the St. Lawrence River on the way to Boldt Castle on Heart Island. A boxed lunch will be provided.  Arrive on Heart Island to visit Boldt Castle for a self-guided tour of the interior of the castle.  The Castle was built as a monument of love by George Boldt for his wife, Louise.  After your visit, you will cruise back to the dock.  Return to your hotel to freshen up before departing for another delicious dinner this evening.

Day 3    Following a buffet breakfast, check out and depart for Lake George, NY with a lunch stop on your own along the way.  Upon arrival you will enjoy some free time to explore the Village of Lake George at your own pace.  Our hotel accommodations are conveniently located where you can walk to and enjoy Lake George at your leisure.  Later, you will check into your hotel, followed by dinner at an area restaurant. 

Day 4    Enjoy breakfast, then check out and depart for time on own in home with lasting memories of the Castles of New York.  Enroute home, we will stop in Seneca Falls to visit Sauder’s Mennonite Store – A country store with a whole lot more! Unique Country Store in Seneca Falls.  Mr. Sauder started it all in the front room of his house, and today, more than 40 years later, you will not be disappointed.  They welcome you to come & discover our Farm Fresh Produce, Fresh & Smoked Meats, Dutch Country Bakery, Swiss Deli & Cheese Shoppe, & Country Cookin Cafe! This is a great stop for shopping and grabbing something to eat en route home.
