Springfield was the birthplace of the author of Dr. Seuss books. You will marvel as you drive past dozens of holiday scenes. The two-and-a-half-mile drive turns us all into children again. DINNER is included at a local restaurant. Following dinner, we will travel to our hotel for check-in.

Saturday, December 7, 2024: BREAKFAST at the hotel this morning. Meet your LOCAL GUIDE at the hotel after breakfast and you will embark on a day of touring including COMMENTARY ABOUT THE BERKSHIRE COTTAGES as you tour about today. The STOCKBRIDGE TOUR promises to whet your appetite for further exploration of this "picture postcard" town. Amazing stories are told about the founders of the town and others who have had an impact on its growth. See the former Norman Rockwell Museum at the Old Corner House. You will see the famous Red Lion Inn, the First Church, the Children's Chimes Chapel, the village cemetery, where the first slave to be legally freed in the U.S. is buried, and many other points of interest. This is a light and informative tour with history, humor and facts. We will take a TOUR OF THE MOUNT, which was wthe home of Edith Wharton, the first woman to receive the Pulitzer Prize - for her work "The Age of Innocence" (1920). Edith Wharton oversaw the design, construction, and furnishing of The Mount and its gardens. A National Historic Landmark, The Mount has undergone extensive restoration and many rooms are presently furnished by international interior decorators. The tour combines literary, historical, biographical, and design aspects of Wharton's life and writing. There is a gift shop with many of Wharton's works for sale. The MOUNT will be decorated for the Holidays. After lunch, at your own expense, continue with the Cottages tour en-route back to your hotel after lunch. Return to the hotel in the midafternoon to freshen up and relax before dinner. DINNER is included this evening at a local restaurant. Following dinner, travel down the street to the First Congregational Church for the 7:00 pm STOCKBRIDGE MAIN STREET AT CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY CONCERT featuring The Berkshire Bach Players - Celebrate the magic of the season with a classical lite musical program located at the First Congregational Church Stockbridge. This afternoon is the highlight of your tour! STOCKBRIDGE MAIN STREET AT CHRISTMAS. The main street of Stockbridge, with antique cars parked along the street, comes alive recreating the famous painting by Norman Rockwell. Children young and old welcome Santa and Mrs. Clause. Activities may include a gingerbread competition, story readings, caroling with Santa. Horse drawn tours of Main Street are extra. This festive atmosphere is sure to get anyone into the holiday spirit. Following our time on main street, we will make a comfort stop and pay on own fast food stop en route home.
