Sunday, May 19, 2024:

Departures:

7:00 AM - Eastern Hills Mall

7:30 AM - Tops

Depart via luxury motor coach setting forth for our first night in Richmond, Virginia. Comfort and meal stops will be made periodically. Later today, following a pay on own dinner stop before we arrive in the Richmond area to check into our hotel for the night. 

Monday, May 20, 2024: BREAKFAST at hotel. Today, we journey out to the beautiful Outer Banks, a 130-mile stretch of wide-open shoreline on a chain of barrier islands just off the coast of North Carolina. Enjoy free time for lunch and shopping in the quaint town of Duck. Most of the town's uniue and funky shops and restaurants are connected y the Duck Trail that runs the entire length of the town. Later this afternoon, we embark on a WILD HORSE SAFARI IN 4WD VEHICLE along an 11-mile-long remote area to see the Wild Spanish Mustangs of Carova. These horses have survived for centuries on the barrier island. Later today, we travel south to Nags Head for a delightful two-night stay. Gather for an INCLUDED DINNER at a local restaurant. 

Tuesday, May 21, 2024: BREAKFAST at hotel. We explore the lovely Outer Banks Scenic Highway which features massive sand dunes, beautiful beaches, and breathtaking vistas. Visit the CHICAMACOMICO LIFE SAVING STATION, a predecessor to the U.S. Coast Guard. Recognized as one of the most complete lifesaving station sites in the US, Chicamacomico tells the stories of some of the most heroic ocean rescues in our nation's history. Continue to legendary CAPE HATTERAS LIGHTHOUSE, tallest brick beacon on the American coast, rising over 200 feet high. Following a lunch break, we visit the GRAVEYARD OF THE ATLANTIC MUSEUM. A fascinating museum dedicated to preserving and interpreting the rich maritime history of the Outer Banks and the more than 2,000 known shipwrecks that rest of the coast. Later today, we return to Nags Head and gather for DINNER INCLUDED at a local restaurant followed by a leisurely evening. 

Wednesday, May 22, 2024: BREAKFAST at hotel. This morning, we visit the WRIGHT BROTHERS NATIONAL MEMORIAL, located in the heart of Kill Devil Hills. It was here on December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright changed the world forever as their powered airplace, the "Wright Flyer," skimmed over the sands of the Outer Banks for 12 seconds before returning to the ground. Later today, we travel to Norfolk, Virginia, home of NAVAL STATION NORFOLK, THE WORLD'S LARGEST NAVAL BASE. Embark on a NARRATED SIGHTSEEING CRUISE DOWN THE ELIZABETH RIVER to catch unparallel views of the Navy's impressive Atlantic Fleet which features naval destroyers, submarines, and other vessels. Enjoy INCLUDED DINNER at a local restaurant and overnight in the Norfolk area.

Thursday, May 23, 2024: BREAKFAST at hotel. Begin today at NAUTICUS, AN EXCITING INTERACTIVE MARITIME DISCOVERY CENTER which explores the power of the seas. Walk the massive decks of BATTLESHIP WISCONSIN, one of the last and largest battleships built by the US Navy. Following a lunch break enjoy free time to explore THE MACARTHUR MEMORIAL, final resting place of General and Mrs. Douglas MacArthur. The site also features a nine-gallery museum highighting the life and times of this consummate soldier. Later this afternoon, we leave Norfolk and travel to the Woodbridge, Virginia area for the final night.

Friday, May 24, 2024: BREAKFAST at hotel. Begin our journey home. Comfort and pay on your own meal stops will be made periodically.
