TENTATIVE ITINERARY:

Day One – Sunday, September 10: Travel aboard a luxury motorcoach to Ogunquit.  Comfort and meal stops will be made en route.  Later today we arrive at the quaint seaside town of Ogunquit for the night. Called “beautiful place by the sea” by the early inhabitants of this region, Ogunquit offers a lovely three-mile beach to the north and picturesque rocky shore to the south.  The quaint town center has craft shops, theaters and parks lining its streets. This evening we gather for dinner at a local restaurant.

Day Two – Monday, September 11: Breakfast included. After a leisurely morning in Ogunquit a short drive north leads us into Portland, Maine where we embark on a guided city tour.  Later today we travel along the rock-bound Atlantic coast to Bar Harbor.  This picturesque route which winds through the quaint seaside communities of Bath, Belfast and Camden is dotted with lighthouses and lobster boats.  Enjoy a stop at the Maine Maritime Museum which is located on a 20-acre site of a 19^th-century shipyard where large wooden sailing ships were constructed.  Later today we arrive in Ellsworth for a memorable two-night stay. 

Day Three – Tuesday, September 12: Breakfast included. No visit to Maine would be complete without a guided tour of its crown jewel, Acadia National Park.  Acadia features an array of stunning landscapes ranging from sandy beaches, a rare sight along Maine’s rocky northern coast, to Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the eastern coastline of North America.  Along with Cadillac Mountain a stop will be made at Thunder Hole, a cleft in the Otter Cliffs that produces a rumbling boom from the pounding surf.  Following our tour enjoy the balance of the afternoon at leisure in Bar Harbor.  The beauty of sea, mountain, lake and forest made this region the summer playground for America’s wealthy during the early 20th-century.  This lovely town features numerous specialty shops, charming boutiques and wonderful restaurants. 

Day Four – Wednesday, September 13: Breakfast included. Today we travel south via Bangor to Freeport for a stop at L.L. Bean Outlet.  Enjoy free time for shopping and lunch on own.  This afternoon we continue traveling south to the affluent community of Kennebunkport.  We see the famous “Wedding Cake House” and former President Bush’s summer home.  Later today we arrive in Portsmouth, New Hampshire for the final overnight. This evening we gather for a traditional lobster bake with another option if you do not like lobster.

Day Five – Thursday, September 14: Following included breakfast we leave the Atlantic Coast and begin our journey home. Rest and meal stops will be made periodically.
