The historic West Baden Springs Hotel was once called the “Eighth Wonder of the World” because of its soaring focal point – an awe-inspiring atrium dome that spans 200 feet. Guests will enjoy two nights in atrium view rooms at this luxury resort.
Day One – Sunday, May 21: Our journey to the Midwest takes us across Ohio enroute to the Drury Inn & Suites Dayton North – our home for the night. Enjoy the complimentary “Kick-Back” reception at our Drury Inn hotel, or venture to a nearby restaurant for dinner on your own.
Day Two – Monday, May 22nd: Breakfast is included daily. Start with a visit to the National Museum of the US Air Force. We will view multiple galleries that feature hundreds of aerospace vehicles and missiles representing decades of aviation military history from the earliest days of aviation to modern fighter jets. After lunch on your own on route, our travels will end in French Lick, Indiana at the historic West Baden Springs Hotel. Following some downtime in your room, enjoy a wine tasting and dinner at a local winery.
Day Three – Tuesday, May 23rd: Today the resort takes center stage. First you will learn about the hotel’s storied past as you partake in a historic tour that highlights the construction of the hotel, its peak heyday, eventual decline, and rebirth as a restoration success story. Following the tour, you have free time to explore the resort, lunch on your own, and time for shopping, swimming, gaming in the casino, or a visit to downtown French Lick. This evening enjoy an included dinner and a show at Abbydell Hall (subject to availability).
Day Four – Wednesday, May 24th: As we bid the French Lick Resort farewell, we will stop at Wilstem Ranch for a unique animal encounter at this local Wildlife Park that is home to giraffes, elephants, wallabies, bears and more. Our journey east will continue to Columbus, Ohio (lunch on own on route) for a guided tour of their famed German Village neighborhood. Dinner is included at the local favorite, Schmidt’s Sausage house. Following dinner, we will check-in to a Drury Inn and Suites for the night.
Day Five – Thursday, May 25th: Depart from Columbus and continue the journey northeast toward Ohio’s second largest city - Cleveland. Visit the internationally renowned Cleveland Museum of Art. The permanent collection is home to 61,000 works of art from around world and includes works spanning centuries from Egyptian art to European Masters and modern luminaries. Time will be allotted for lunch on your own at the museum café before continuing home to Western New York.
