EASTER TRADITIONS IN BUFFALO

TUESDAY, MARCH 26, 2024

$125.00

Our first stop of the day is the BUFFALO AND ERIE COUNTY BOTANICAL GARDENS. The tri-dome glass, wood and steel building was designed by the Lord & Burnham Co. Built in 1897-1899, it was one of the largest public greenhouses in the country. Stroll the beautiful gardens and enjoy the beautiful SPRING DISPLAYS AND EASTER BLOOMS. A FAMILY-STYLE LUNCH is planned at ILIO DIPAOLO'S RESTAURANT. Following lunch, visit OUR LADY OF VICTORY BASILICA AND NATIONAL SHRINE. The basilica was the last dream of Father Nelson H. Baker. See life-size Stations of the Cross carved from a single block of Italian marble. There is time to browse the gift shop. Fill up with Easter goodies at the BROADWAY MARKET, a Buffalo tradition for many years. Founded in 1888, the market has been known for unique products, with meat stands, poultry stands, produce counters, bakeries, delis, candy stands, and restaurants featuring Buffalo's best ethnic foods, especially Polish delights. Be sure to purchase butter shaped like a lamb and pussy willows for the Easter celebration. If you plan to purchase anything, please bring a small cooler with your name on it.
