Start off with a LITITZ TOWN TOUR - LANCASTER COUNTY'S SWEET SPOT, a stunning cultural melting pot of historic country charm and sophisticated urban flair. Founded in 1756 by Count Nicholas von Zinzendorf, whom also had founded the modern day Moravian Church, the town was named after a Bavarian castle known as Litice. The majority of the homes and buildings that stand in the town date back to this era and have been stunningly historically restored, making downtown Lititz a must see for your next daytrip. These buildings now harbor many of Lititz’s unique boutiques, shops and taverns giving way to shopping and dining experiences that prove impossible to forget. Next, visit THE JULIUS STURGIS PRETZEL BAKERY, the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. Founded in 1861, this historic location is still maintained today by the Sturgis family. Located in beautiful Lititz, Pennsylvania, this tour provides a fun and insightful look at the birth of pretzel baking in the region. During the tour, you will get a hands-on lesson in pretzel twisting, learn about the history of pretzel baking in America, see the original 19th-century pretzel ovens built by Julius Sturgis, watch the bakers twisting sourdough soft pretzels by hand, and receive a small sample bag of pretzels baked by America's original pretzel-baking family. Visit the WILBUR CHOCOLATE STORE - walk in, take a deep breath, and smell the chocolate aroma throughout the store. Our candy store offers a friendly atmosphere that will stir delightful memories of yesteryear and put a smile on each visitor’s face, young and old alike. You will enjoy a large selection of Wilbur® items, chocolate specialties, and many other confections. You can also watch candy makers create our delicious fudge featuring a variety of flavors! We are a one-stop shop to pick up that perfect gift for every occasion. Enjoy some shopping and lunch on own in Lititz. A perfect balance of historic and charming small town appeal with upscale and sophisticated urban flair. An oasis from our box store and chain restaurant society with a myriad of eclectic and creative, independently owned shops, intimate cafes and unique and memorable fine dining. We’ve even given the air a scent of chocolate. Start with equal parts of hometown charm and big city sophistication, mix in lots of extremely cool and unique shops, add some warm and friendly greetings and a generous portion of places to relax and unwind. Be sure to visit Wilbur Chocolate while in town. A Four Star restaurant, patio and sidewalk dining, unique coffee and pastry shops, deli's and two old-time soda fountain shops provide enjoyment and relaxation. Next, enjoy a CHALK TALK @ ELVA'S STUDIO, a presentation reviving the old art of chalk talk, a fun, motivational and inspiring event you'll never forget. Complete with colored lights and ultra violet black light show which creates beautiful effects on the artwork. You have to see it to believe it! Later this afternoon, we travel to LONGWOOD GARDENS where you will enjoy a SELF GUIDED TOUR AND TASTE OF CHRISTMAS IN THE FOUNTAIN ROOM. When visiting Longwood Gardens, you are immersed not only in the breathtaking surroundings, but in the rich history as well. The traditions and elegance of the gardens have evolved over time, and resulted in the magnificence we have today. Step back in time and learn about the important cultural events and their contribution to today’s Longwood Gardens. Each passenger will be given an easy-to-follow guide map of the Gardens, allowing the group to go at its own pace and experience the areas of the Gardens that specifically interest them. Stop by the Gardens Shop in the Visitor Center, where you'll find a large selection of home & garden items, apparel, bath products and Longwood signature items. Check out their new merchandise in fresh spring colors and adorned with whimsical bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Enjoy the magic of A Longwood Christmas coupled with a festive holiday dining experience at the new TASTE OF CHRISTMAS in The Fountain Room. The perfect way to celebrate the season, The Fountain Room—newly opened as part of Longwood Reimagined—is an airy, inviting space where you can warm up, recharge, and savor the season. Nestled in the heart of our Gardens and offering spectacular views of our holiday display, you’ll enjoy exclusive access to an imaginative array of chef-prepared sweet, savory, and carved-to-order selections; decadent desserts; non-alcoholic beverages, including an enticing hot chocolate station; and house wines, seasonal local craft beers, and a themed cocktail.
