"Jesus Christ Superstar" is a rock opera that retells the story of the last week of Jesus's life, focusing on the relationship between Jesus and Judas Iscariot, and exploring themes of faith, doubt, and betrayal. The musical, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, presents a modern interpretation of the Passion of Christ through the eyes of Judas, who is portrayed with more complexity and sympathy than in traditional Passion plays.
